Yesterday, Gibson EMC received a ceremonial check for the $4,650,880 grant that was awarded through the Kentucky Broadband Deployment Program. The grant will help fund our $15M broadband infrastructure project to make high-speed, fiber-based internet service available to all eligible Gibson EMC member-owners in Fulton, Hickman, Carlisle and Graves counties in Kentucky.
We have done the engineering, ordered the materials and will begin work as soon as we receive the grant parameters and sign the grant contract. We hope to have high-speed internet service to all of our members within one year, but we ask you to continue to be patient with us. We must build 623 miles of broadband network and there are many factors like weather, supply shortages, and labor shortages that can affect the speed with which we can complete the buildout. Please know that we will do the work as quickly as we possibly can. If you have not already registered for this service, go to join.gibsonconnect.com or call 731-562-6000 to ensure you receive it as quickly as possible.
Thank you to Governor Andy Beshear and Judge Executives Kenny Wilson, Jim Martin and Greg Terry. Thank you to our member-owners in Kentucky. We are thrilled to provide this critically important service to our member-owners!
