About Gibson EMC
A Message from President and CEO Dan Rodamaker
Thank you for visiting Gibson Electric Membership Corporation's website. As a cooperative, we are exclusively dedicated to service. We are nonprofit and member-owned; our mission is simply to provide you with safe and reliable electric service at an affordable price.
We purchase electricity from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). TVA delivers the electricity through its generation and transmission system to Gibson EMC's 20 substations. The voltage is lowered at our substations and delivered to our almost 39,000 members over 3,500 miles of line in eight west Tennessee counties (Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Haywood, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion and Madison) and four west Kentucky counties (Carlisle, Fulton, Graves and Hickman).
About 77 cents of every dollar we collect from our members goes to TVA to pay for the cost of electricity and any net margin after meeting expenses is reinvested in our members' electric system.
Gibson EMC is a local, grassroots, service organization. Our board of trustees and employees are your friends and your neighbors. Whether adding new technology, services or programs; strengthening our physical electric system, or supporting our communities, our focus is always on you, our member-owner.
